About Us

I'm Dr Sarah, a medical doctor that has struggled with sleep for as long as I can remember. I slept poorly as a kid, through school and university, and even now working as a doctor and educator. I worked shift work in a busy emergency department for years before deciding to start training as a General Practitioner, and I spent countless nights developing and tweaking my sleep routine.

I often get asked by my patients what they can do to sleep better; often hoping there's a magic pill. Unfortunately, good sleep takes work and our brains need to learn the rituals and routines of bedtime so we can switch off. I use the same techniques I tell my patients: have a clean bedtime routine, and develop a habit-forming sleep ritual that hits all the senses (Learn more about this in About Sleep). 

With the help of my mum Karen, a busy high school teacher who is also a horrible sleeper, we developed Sleep Scents; our own essential oil blend which we used for years to help anchor our sleep routine using the sense of smell.

We want to share Sleep Scents and our other sleep tips and tricks with other struggle-sleepers out there.
